Welcome to World Glaucoma Week
World Glaucoma Week is a global initiative organized by the World Glaucoma Association. We invite patients, eye care providers, health officials and the public to join forces in organizing awareness activities worldwide. Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness, and distinct challenges may be present in different regions of the world. Our goal is to alert everyone to have regular eye and optic nerve checks to detect glaucoma as early as possible because there are available treatments for all forms of glaucoma to prevent visual loss.
Uniting for a Glaucoma-Free World
This year’s theme “Uniting for a Glaucoma-Free World” focuses on bringing communities worldwide to fight together against glaucoma blindness. Become involved and be a part of the activities organized over the globe. Help us raise awareness worldwide and learn more about glaucoma.
In 2025, over 600+ activities were submitted on the World
Thank you all for being a part of this global initiative. By joining forces, we have made a strong impact in glaucoma screening and public education. Of course, our mission doesn’t stop here. We will continue our journey of raising awareness about glaucoma and urging people to get tested.
Why Does Awareness Matter?
Glaucoma symptoms often go unnoticed until substantial vision is lost, making self detection difficult. The World Glaucoma Association (WGA) advocates for greater awareness and early detection through research, education and community.
How awareness makes a difference:
Millions are undiagnosed. Starting conversation with family and professionals will save sight.
The earlier glaucoma is detected, the more successful the treatment is likely to be.
Everyone deserves healthy vision, global awareness helps to lead change.
