As part of our training commitment, we also have Foundation Year 2 (FY2) Doctors and ST3 GP registrars in our surgeries.
FY2 trainees are seconded to GP practices, for approximately four-months placement. The aim of the placement is to give the FY2 doctor meaningful experience in general practice with exposure to patients in the community, as well as gaining an understanding of the interface between primary and secondary care. Experience in general practice will contribute towards the FY2 doctor achieving the competencies required for completion of their GP Foundation Programme.
An ST3 GP registrar is a qualified doctor and has now decided to pursue a career in general practice. This is their third year of GP training and will have their own clinics but they will still be supervised by their GP trainer. The ST3 doctor will be with the surgery for one year.
