Group B Strap Awareness Week

Group B Strep Awareness Week: 8-14 July 2026

Most GBS infections in babies are preventable ❤️

Around 1 in 4 adults carry group B Strep – usually without knowing. While it is usually harmless in adults, it can cause life-threatening infections in newborn babies when passed on around birth.

Most infections are preventable – but many parents are never told. And in the UK, routine testing is still not offered during pregnancy.

This Group B Strep Awareness Week (8–14 July), we’re calling for change.

If you’re pregnant or supporting someone who is, this could help protect your baby.

Many parents only hear about group B Strep after their baby becomes seriously ill.
